Dispose of your unused, unwanted and/or expired unused medications (over-the-counter and/or prescription medications) at Summit Police Department Headquarters, 512 Springfield Avenue. There will be a special disposal chest where you can dispose of your unwanted medications in a safe and eco-friendly way.
This initiative is open to all residents. It is part of a stae-wide initiative involving all New Jersey police departments. The effort is spearheaded by the Drug Enforcement Administration's NJ Dvision, the NJ Office of the Attorney General, NJ State Association of Chiefs of olice, the NY/NJ HIDTA and the NJ National Guard. Last year, more than 9,000 pounds of medicine were collected and properly destroyed.
Participating in this program reduces risks of having old medications accessible in your home to children who ought not to be exposed to them.
Got senior adult parent(s) in the area? Clean out their medicine cabinets and dispose of the old medications. This will keep children safe while at their home AND will keep them safe from taking incorrect medications. This effort was SO successful in NJ last year that it has now become a NATIONAL campaign!
